It’s that time of the year when you never know what the weather will bring. But, I know here at JAV we’re rooting for a lot of warm, sunshiny days! The recent chill in the air hasn’t slowed things down here at the winery. We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend in February, where the food was amazing and the wine flowed freely. Thanks to Chris Torres with Dinner and Company for her creative menu’s for both our Night of Wine and Chocolate and our Valentine’s Day Winemaker Dinner. As usual, the pairings were fantastic!
In the cellar, Justin continues to plug away as he prepares for more bottling. Over the upcoming months we’ll be releasing our ever popular Catawba, Sangria, a wonderful new vintage of Edyn’s Blush and of course the Meads! Despite the cold temps and a couple snow events, Josh and Kyle have been busy in the vineyard with pruning. Our hope is always to be done with the pruning by bud break…around the first of April. So far our crew is still on target!
We’re also very pleased to announce that JAV made a nice showing in the International Eastern Wine Competition (East meets West) held recently in Sonoma, California. Our 2014 Nebraska White impressively received a Double Gold while the 2013 Edelweiss earned a Gold medal and the Sweet Charlotte garnered a Bronze. While at the Florida International Wine Competition, the Sweet Charlotte captured Gold, while the 2014 San Realto and 2 Brothers each brought home Bronze. We’ll keep you updated as more awards will hopefully be rolling in.
Also, back by popular demand our Saturday Night Tapas. Every Saturday from 5-8 pm in March and April, we will offer a selection of tapas that will be perfectly matched with our wines. Each week you’ll have a different menu to choose from.
And, don’t forget, starting the first Friday in April we will have our inaugural Trivia Night! Great fun, great prizes and great wine. Where else can you use all the incredible knowledge you have stored in your brain? Mark your calendars for April 3rd! That’s just the start of things. Check out our Calendar of Events for more information!
