The view is quite good from a comfortable chair outside on the grounds at James Arthur Vineyards.
Be still and look closely, and you might spot a deer, wild turkey or some other wild animal. Sit back, relax and watch the sunset. All the while, enjoy a glass of JAV wine.
The winery features a veranda, gazebos, picnic area, patio, meeting/party room and a special hilltop spot to watch the sunset — all ready for use.
The only thing better would be to enjoy the stay with friends. James Arthur Vineyards hosts wine-tasting parties, weddings and receptions, or parties for just about any reason imaginable.
Come take a look at our St. Croix Room meeting/party room made possible by an expansion in our oak barrel storage area. This beautiful sunny room features a stone fireplace, wine-tasting bar, catering kitchen, windows overlooking both the winemaking room and the vineyards and French doors leading to a private deck. We also have access to many power outlets to help you with your audio-visual equipment needs. Perfect for both that strategic planning meeting you must schedule for work or that family anniversary party. Arrangements can be made for catering services raning from a sack lunch to a full-plated meal.
Our rental fee for our meeting room is $75/Half Day and $140/Full Day. All meeting room pricing is based on times when James Arthur Vineyards is open to the public (excluding Friday evening and weekend hours during the summer).
Here's what you need to know:
JAV requires at least one month's notice for parties of 25 or more; two weeks' notice for smaller gatherings. At least 18 people must attend to reserve a date. A 50 percent deposit is needed to reserve space.
Options for Special Events:
Option 1:
Wine tasting with cheese, sausage and fresh bread - served buffet style. JAV supplies plates, napkins and glasses. Minimum of 18 people, maximum of 50 people. Includes tour of vineyard (weather permitting). $13 per person
Option 2:
Wine tasting with one hot appetizer, finger sandwiches and one salad, fruit and cheese tray - served buffet style. JAV supplies plates, napkins and glasses. Minimum of 18 people, maximum of 50 people. Tour of vineyard optional (weather permitting). $18.00/person
A wine tasting consists of six 1 oz. samples of JAV's wines. Additional wine can be purchased at a per bottle rate. See wine inventory
Option 3:
Rental Fee: $400 includes $100 credit towards purchase of wine. Maximum 60 people. Food is on an individual basis. Client is responsible for choosing the menu from a licensed caterer. (JAV has a preferred catering list upon request). Caterer will supply all wait staff, including set-up and clean-up and place settings, flatware and other beverages other than wine with an additional glass. Client has the option of renting JAV's china settings/flatware for an additional $3 per person. JAV will supply one staff person as well as tables with linens, chairs and stemware for wine. Additional wines may be purchased at a per bottle rate. No opened containers can leave the premises. No other alcoholic beverages can be brought onto JAV's premises. Non-alcoholic beverages can be catered in or purchased from JAV's retail cooler.
All options are based on a two-hour rental period. Each additional hour or fraction thereof will be charged at a rate of $35 per hour. JAV will reserve the date of your event when a damage deposit of $200 is received along with a signed contract. If no damage to JAV's facility or grounds is found, the $200 damage deposit will be returned the next business day.
All weddings at James Arthur Vineyards begin at 10 a.m on Saturdays. All ceremonies are held in front of the waterfall, with guests seated in each gazebo and in folding chairs on the cement pad directly behind the bride and groom.
The cost for a wedding held at JAV is $500.00 which includes a total of 1-1/2 hours for ceremony, wine toast and picture taking. Wine will be served in half glass portions to all guests over the age of 21, with lemonade or ice water provided for those not drinking the wine.
No reception or cake serving can be held at the winery. The maximum number of invited guests is 60 people total. And chairs will be set up for the number of invited guests.
Absolutely NO outside alcoholic beverages can be brought onto JAV's premises. Anyone possessing an alcoholic beverage other than JAV's wine will be asked to leave. No exceptions.
James Arthur Vineyards is open to the public at noon on Saturdays, therefore wedding festivies must be completed by that time.
All flowers, balloons and other decorations must be taken down before the wedding party leaves.
A damage deposit of $200 is due on completion of this contract. One-half of the total cost is due on completion of this contract. Your date will be confirmed upon signing of a contract and the depositing of checks received by James Arthur Vineyards.
After your reception is complete, if no damage is found your $200 check will be sent to you the next business day.
