 SPRINGTIME AT JAV

Spring is finally here! That means there are a lot of exciting things happening at JAV. With the warmer weather come lush greenery, cheerful sunshine, singing birds and a renewed energy throughout the vineyard. Enjoy the day with a stroll on the trails among the budding vines or relax with a glass of wine on our patio and watch as the world gently turns. Whether you come out for one of our amazing events or just want to enjoy the beautiful scenery, spring is a wonderful time to visit the JAV. So whatever your reason, we hope to see you soon!

Cheers,
Jim and Barb Ballard

WHAT’S HAPPENING

Learn the importance of using barrels through the winemaking process, or be your own winemaker through our blend-your-own-bottle wine blending station. Call the winery today to reserve your place for this hands-on tasting tour of the JAV Barrel room. The tasting is April 12th and tickets are $10 per person.

Get into the swing of spring on April 26th with live music at JAV! Experience the acoustic sounds of Tom Roth and Wes Stebbins from 1:00-3:00, and enjoy wine specials throughout the day.

In the evening on the 26th, be sure to join us for the world famous Murder Mystery. It’s an incredible event you won’t want to miss! Reservations are required and the show sells out quickly, so call today to get your tickets. Murder Mystery includes wine, a meal by Dinner and Company and the evening’s show.

And as always, one Friday night a month, TADA Productions transforms the party room of the winery into a cabaret straight out of Chicago, Minneapolis or New York. This is your chance to hear some superb music sung by great local talent while enjoying a glass of Nebraska’s best wine. Tickets must be purchased in advance, call 783-5255 today.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES—2007 WHITE ST. CROIX

Harvest Brix: 5.4%
Alcohol 8.9%
TA 1.13
pH: 3.85

We’ve taken the red St. Croix grape and turned into a delicious rose wine full of fruit and flavor. Modeled after a traditional White Merlot, we first created this style of wine with our 2003 harvest, and have been diligently working to perfect it each season. This year’s White St. Croix is hands-down the best yet. This vintage champions a beautiful raspberry color with the same flavor on the palette, with an easy finish that lingers on for minutes. Try this wine with your salad course when having a nice vinaigrette dressing, or with a chocolate dessert.

FOR THE WINE ENTHUSIAST

Potential Alcohol
The potential alcohol depends on the must weight. The more sugar there is in the juice prior to fermentation, the greater the amount of alcohol in the final wine, hence it has a higher potential alcohol.
